Author's Review
I have 8-10 years of photo experience. I used this camera for the past 16 months in various conditions. Here's my review:
GOOD camera, easy to use even by complete beginners. It also has features that make it a back-up camera for pros.
Fast zoom, easy to compose images, the focusing feature works very fine.
I shot till now some 35 rolls of film with it, outdoors & indoors, by day and by night.
INDOORS: red-eye reduction is very good. The flash is a very strong one, so be aware not to shoot with a white background or very close to the subject.
BY NIGHT: excellent camera to use by night (see www.geocities.com/lamiable/france.html). Works just fine with Fuji 400 films. Weather resistant too, I shot pictures with it at -4 C and in a blizzard - it worked just fine. Surely, you need a tripod...
BY DAY: great for group pictures or simple exposures.
Be very careful when you compose a landscape shot, you have to point to a zone with moderate light in order to have the entire picture well exposed. Otherwise... 70% rate of success...
However, after you begin to understand how to correctly expose your photos with this camera, you'll get great photos under any conditions.
Battery lasts for over 25 rolls of film, even with the flash used in 50% of the photos.
It's major ADVANTAGE is its fastness, and that you can re-compose the frames, taking advantage of its neat feautres.
However, it's major FLAW is that it over-exposes constantly with 1-2 F-stops. Has a 80% rate or success even in simple light (no big contrasts allowed...:-(). ut what more you could ask from a P&S...
OTHER PROS: user-friendly interface, GREAT LENS, very modern look, easy to carry, not much noise, very FAST
OTHER CONS: none that I can found.
