Back in high school, when I was studying for the SATs, this came in very handy. Whenever I saw a word that I did not know, I would type it into the dictionary, and it would give me the definition promptly. If I spelled it wrong, it would find variations of the word so that I could choose which one I wanted. Overall, the dictionary skills of this electronic dictionary are great.

There are other good features as well. One of them is that it has a sound feature that tells you what the word is supposed to sound like. This is useful for people learning English and for those words that you've seen, but have no idea how they are pronounced. It is a good way to make sure that you don't embarrass yourself when using a vocab word in conversation.

Additionally, the dictionary tells you the origin of the word, so that you can know what the root is. This can help with remembering the meaning and to link it to other words with similar origins.

Next, the dictionary gives synonyms and antonyms to the word. I feel that this feature helps you better understand the meaning and helps when you write essays and articles as well because there are often times when you need to write similar or opposite words.

Lastly, there are fun games on this machine! This is my favorite part because you can have fun without feeling like you are wasting time. The anagrams game is definitely a challenge with most words having tons of words within it that you could never imagine. It also has a train game for vocabulary words to help you learn words for the SAT or GRE. It's fun and fabulous!

One slight downside, though, is that this dictionary sometimes doesn't have words that are real words. When I play Scrabble, I use this machine to check words, and sometimes have the Oxford dictionary nearby to double check as well. There are a few obscure words that are in the Oxford but not this electronic dictionary.

Overall, I like this machine and have used it very happily!
