Author's Review
I had done a lot of searching for a reasonably priced, higher powered cd-receiver for my Jeep Wrangler and found this unit. A buddy had the deh-p47dh system in his car and I had been impressed with the sound and figured to spend a couple more bucks and get this unit. As I needed a din and 1/2 sized head unit, my choices were limited ( I did not want to mess around with mounting kits). This unit popped right into the spot the old deck was in very easily. I did have to buy a 10$ wiring harness only because the idea of splicing a dozen wires did not appeal to me. I had the entire installation done in under an hour.
There are tons of bells and whistles with this unit that I probably will not use (since I have a soft top jeep, the idea of hooking up the car alarm was pretty dumb, and I did not need the mute as there is no car phone in the Jeep), but the system is great if you want to add on an amp, changer, or mp3 player - all the hook ups are there.
The sound was pretty good with the 4 factory speakers, but I wanted a cleaner sound out of the front speakers and bought a pair of infinity kappa 4x6 2-way plate speakers. This lets me brings the sound level up pretty close to deafening with almost no distortion, and is loud enough with the roof down that you still get great sound.
The equalizer is excellent, the controls are easy to use, and the detachable faceplate is a must for having a Jeep.
Even the radio reception is improved over the old unit with the basic factory antenna.
