Been there, got the t-shirt

I stumbled upon this film when a friend got out the wrong film one evening and I was in many ways pleasantly surprised. I recognised it as being nearly scene for scene the same as the original Nikita by Luc Besson and I was interested to see hwo things had been adjusted. I was somewhat dissapointed then to see that little really changes and the almost comic book feel to the film's atmosphere detract from the characterisation of our heroine. Having said that, Gabriel Bryne is good as the infatuauted boss and I was impressed by Harvey Kietel as the "cleaner" who looked more like the psychopathic librarian from hell than Jean Reno's original assassin. Ultimately though, this is a pretty average action flick and for who have already seen the original, this offers little new. Another assassin movie that was a spin off of Nikita though was Leon or The Proffessional and if neither Point of No Return or Nikita is heavy enough for you, I recommend that as the alternative
