Haunting, Sexy, and Dull
Pros:
Great preformances, sexy, film noirish
Cons:
SLOOOOOWWW.......
The Bottom Line:
Recommended to fans of Film Noir or to fans of Nicholson or Lange. Only reason not recommend to everyone is it is slow and in the end seems pointless.

Author's Review
Okay, so this movie has everything, good acting, steamy(and very graphic)sex, murder, and betrayl. It is hard to beleive a movie with all of those ingreidients could be so incredibly boring. It is not a horrible movie by any means, but it is not great. Here is the basic plot.
Jack Nicholson plays Frank Chambers. He is a drifter. That is all the information we are given. He wanders into a roadside diner and instantly becomes attracted to the owners beautiful wife, Cora(played wonderfully by Jessica Lange). Frank is offered a job by the owner as an auto mechanic. He takes it. One day while the husband is gone, Frank and Cora engage in hot(and graphic)sex. They live out their affair in fear, knowing sooner or later they will be caught. All they want is to be together, even if it means killing her husband.
It sounds good enough, but after the murder the film goes downhill. The pacing slacks and we begin to lose focus. It basically turns into a huge mess. The same year, the movie Body Heat was released. It is almost the same plot but it is 10 times as good. It really carries the feeling of Film Noir and also has wonderful preformances and better directing. Now back to this one. The main problems it faces are the pacing and the plotline. It is good at first but then as I said, goes downhill. It gets very choppy in the second half and basically goes nowhere.
The movie does have some good things going for it though. The acting from both Lange and Nicholson are top-notch. They are very believeable in their roles. They have great chemastry and steam up the screen in sceans. Also, the movie is pretty realistic and believable, other then the fact that they basically fall in love with each other so deeply in a matter of days, that they would kill for each other. So the movie is not all bad. I just love the two's preformances.
*Spoiler*
I think the only place where Nicholsons acting lost it's believablility was the scene where he was crying over the loss of his dead bride. It was too forced and unbelievable.
*End Spoiler*
Yes this movie is the remake of the classic Film Noir staring Lana Turner, but I never saw that one so cannot compare the two. Overall, I guess it is worth seeing just to see Lange and Nicholson sizzle on screen. Just be prepared to be a little bored.
