Author's Review

I absolutely love this show, it's my current addiction. They couldn't have found two better actors to play the two starring roles, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). Previously, I have really only seen these two briefly, Dominic in "John Doe" and Wentworth in small tv appearances. These two play very powerful characters who show a lot of feeling in their eyes and their portrayal, as well as both being gorgeous and engaging talents. Scofield being a very smart, respectable, intense guy who really believes in doing the right thing and cares about others. Lincoln is more serious and skeptical and hopes Michael can figure things out.

The dramatic suspense and action in this show draws you in and holds you. It is very well written, and packed with style and personality. Just as you think things may when start to become predictable and boring, they usually tend to throw something new at you. I must say the first season did drag out a bit, but it is called Prison Break... and if you get to the escape too fast, what are you left with ... how would you assume they could keep the plot going?

In the first season, Micheal's older brother, Lincoln, found himself amongst a political conspiracy in which he was wrongly framed & convicted for killing the vice president's brother. He is sentenced to die by execution in the electric chair. Finding legal means unbreakable and time of the essence, his little brother, Michael decides to rob a bank so that he can too can be incarcerated. From them, his eleborate plan unfolds in an attempt to escape and save the life of the older brother he admires. Michael being a brilliant architect, who just happens to have belonged to an architecture company that had a hand in building the prison, has ingeniously tattooed a secret map of the prison upon the own skin of his back. Still, against all odds, Lincoln's lawyer / ex-girlfriend, Veronica (Robin Tunney) and as his son, LJ, try vigourous to help find any legal means to free him.

While in jail at the Fox River Penn, Michael Scofield finds himself up against many odds and a dangerous array of circumstances, including being among the mix of a remarkable bunch of scoundrel-like, mean, underhanded, and yet still sometimes human-like inmates. It is interesting to watch how they have to use each other and sometimes even work together to help one another, as you wonder who will elude who in the end? These include great characters like; the notorious Theodore "T-bag" Bagwell, Ben "C-Note" Franklin, the sweet Fernando Sucre, John Abucci,"Haywire", and David "Tweener", amongst others. The authority of Bellick, Mahone, and Kellerman also present a pain in Scofield's side during this period of time. Besides, Lincoln, JL, and Veronica, ... the only thing to keep Scofield going seems to be his love and connection with the prison doctor and daughter of the governor, Sarah Tancredi.

By, the end of the first season the escape has began and and into the second season, you go along with the prisoners as they are on the run. In the third season, although in Panama, Michael once again finds himself in prison. This time, in the highly secure, Sona, under the watchful eye of Lechero, Sammy, and his group of followers. Whistler, Gretchen, and Sophia are also introduced as key characters in the 3rd season of the saga. Although, I like Whistler's preformance, I'm not too fond of the other women just yet. What really saddens me is them killing off Sarah just when things between her and Michael were starting to get interesting, I still hope that was all a dream. :)

I must admit, it is very interesting uncovering the sercret connections with all the individuals and the underlying things going on in the plot. The unknown mystery, and well written characters after all is is what keeps the show so exciting. Next season, watch for Michael to advenge Sarah's death and more entertainment thrills, I'm sure. If you haven't seen this show, you should definately check it out or rent the old seasons and catch up! My only complaint is that they are always interrupting the seasons. I hope this show doesn't get old anytime too soon, because it certainly a pleasure to watch. By the way, I did not watch the DVD, but you can't review the show without choosing DVD or VHS, so I guess I will change it to VHS, because I can't tell you about the extras!
