Prophet or Profit?

Now maybe I am being a little unfair when I write this, because I must admit I read this book out of total boredom. It was a strain to get through this book, not to mention that the story was a little far reaching. It is interesting that the topic it preaches about is timely, but the presentation is done in an over the top style. I am not sure that the "facts" being presented are real, but more that they are there to shock the reader. If Mr. Peretti wanted to write a book about the horrors of abortion, why do it as a fiction, there are plenty of real life stories that could be told. The plot is thin and struggles and the characters are weak and do not even make you interested. If I hadn't been trapped in my hotel room in freezing weather, I probably would never have gotten past the first chapter. I guess the only way I could recommend this book is if there is really nothing else to do that day, otherwise watching snow melt would be a better way to pass your time. I really did want to like this book, but just never could. The author's writing style is weak and he never gets this reader to suspend reality and get into the plot. There are better Christian fictions out there, try the Left Behind series, as for this one the real title should have been "Profit".
