Author's Review
It's sort of funny actually... There are four bands that can be jammed... X, K, Ka, and also laser. There are laser jammers that do work, the best two are the Escort ZR-3 and the Bel Laserpro 904... Other than that, there aren't any devices on the market that jam radar... Well, except that Rocky Mountain's claims that their products jam products. Well, after my friend Brian got pulled over in his 2003 Toyota Celica, he to buy the Rocky Mountain RMR-S201 Phazer II alonside an Escort Passport Solo (1) which he thought he was getting AMAZING protection for less than the amount of money that it costs to buy one Valentine One. It costed him $350 in total. Well, before I even got started with everything, I'd like to say something funny that I thought of.
-A CHEAPER Jammer?-
*There are currently two jammers in Rocky Mountain's line-up, they are the Rocky Mountain RMR-S201 Phazer II and also the RMR-C430 which costs twice as much coming in at $399. Well, technically... Aren't jammers both supposed to do the same thing? Completely jam the police radar and or laser so that the officer won't be able to get a reading? That means I can take a Ferrari F50 and pull off over 200mph past a cop in a 25mph-Zone for example, and he won't be able to pull me over??? Or Rocky Mountain claims that the Rocky Mountain RMR-S201 Phazer II meant to be used in combinatioin with a detector while the RMR-C430 is a stand-alone unit. BUT WHAT'S THE POINT IF IT'S SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT THAT THE COP CAN'T GET A READING?!
-What's It Like?-
*It's a cheap and weird looking unit. Just mount and get pulled over... err... I mean jam. Nothing else to say here.
-Performance-
*Well, huh? Where's the performance?! Brian was using this alongside his Escort Solo which gets horrendous performance for a radar. So one day we were driving on IL-68 and it was around 9 or so. He was pulling 80mph in a 40mph-Zone. There was a police officer with K-band at the side. His detector went off as we passed the cop, and he failed to slow down. Then the cop came just as I predicted, and then there he was pulled over to the side. So what did Brian do? He asked to see a radar reading. We both walked to the police cruiser, and saw the speed of 83mph locked in... So, what does this tell you about the Rocky Mountain RMR-S201 Phazer II? You decide. As for laser, Rocky Mountain says that the way it works is by creating a field of infrared light in front of the car. This works... Only if the laws of physics are repealed. When a wave passes through another, the point at which they intersect offers interference, but once the sources are apart, the laser is back to its former shape, wavelength, frequency, etc... Sorry, but it's just the laws of physics, which simply can't be broken, and not even by Rocky Mountain Radar.
-But What About The Ticket Rebate?-
*Rocky Mountain says that they will pay for any ticket that is within 30% or 15mph and below the legal speed limit. Well, let's look at why this is the biggest load of BS ever. First off, paying a ticket is no big deal for most people. The fact that it goes on your driving record and then insurance goes sky high is the big killer. Also, people who buy this see it as a ticket to speed, which means that they would be going over 15mph over.
-The Verdict-
*I'd rather have a tissue box on my dashboard than the Rocky Mountain RMR-S201 Phazer II. First off, both have the same abilities at jamming radar and laser. But the tissue box seems to be more effective in the fact that I'll have something to wipe away my tears after I get pulled over.
