My wife and I purchased this washing machine and matching electric dryer in January, 2008. My son had a set of Kenmore front loaders (same models as Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid. All made by Whirlpool) and he had advised me of the "Walking Washer" syndrome that he had experienced. He stated that it shook his whole house when his washer went into the spin cycle. Using this advice and doing searches on the Internet, I decided to check out the Samsung's. I live in a second floor apartment, and I absolutely could not have that vibration issue that the other washers had. We purchased from Best Buy for their unconditional 30 day return policy.
WOW!!!! They are quiet, and they are fast!! Especially the drying (because of the high washer spin speed). I am a larger size guy, so my clothes, especially jeans and cotton shirts can get a bit heavy when wet. This machine does not care. All clothes come out clean and smelling great. Use good soap and softener and you will not have any problems.
I have seen different comments concerning the Silver Care Cycle. We have found it works great. It works best on the towels. Just remember not to use fabric softener when washing towels. Then, to find out how good the silver care works, don't smell the towels right out of the dryer, go to a sink, wet a wash towel and wash your face. That is when you find out that the "Funky Towel" is gone. We wash our towels in the Silver Care every 3rd or 4th time and it keeps them fresh.
VRT vibration reduction technology is the ball bearings, as stated before. It is also the computer system in the washer that helps with this. I have had some loads that the ball bearings didn't balance the first time. The machine will try 3 times to spin. If it can't get the load to balance, it will go into a short cycle with a bit of water and re-agitate the clothes. It will then try again. I have never had to reload the washer because of it not being able to spin.
This set is highly recommended by my wife and me. My wife has back problems, so the pedestals were a necessity. They put the washer and dryer at the perfect height for effortlessly moving clothes from one to the other without any bending.
We are extremely happy with the set and would recommend this to anyone. My son saw them and he is going to trade and get the Samsung's
