When you need a large marker to get the job done, its time to go for the Magnum. The Sanford Magnum Permanent Markers are some of the widest body markers out there, and are really built for those large jobs. Double the size of a normal large marker (seriously, twice the width all around) they contain enough ink to do just about anything to need to accomplish. Also sold in black, red, and blue, this particular marker is their green version.
The marker itself has a really wide barrel, consisting mostly of a silver color, with a large lid that is the same green color as the ink. Popping the lid off, you can easily slide it on to the back of the marker, and reveal the nicely fashioned tip. These giant tips are 5/8 of an inch long, close to 3/8 of an inch wide. That gives you are really wide base when you are writing with the marker, and many different angles that you can create your lineage with. The tip is made to a chisel point, constructed in wool, and it works much like a sponge as it withdraws in k from the barrel and places it on your paper.
When writing with the Magnum, you are of course relegated to big characters as a result of the huge tip on the pen. This is a pretty nice thing though, if it is exactly what the job is calling for. I have found that the best uses for these Magnums are for large posters or signs. So, if you are a sports fan, this would be a great asset to have when preparing that next sign for the big game on Saturday. They also serve a great purpose if you are involved in things like Student Government and need to create large signs to hang advertising for a dance or BBQ. The pens make it so that you can write quickly with them, but also so that you will have vivid strokes each and ever time.
This Magnum is water and smudge resistant to provide durability for your writing, and that means that it will remain readable long after you are done. When you write something, the ink comes out in a bright green hue that shows up from quite a distance, and performs best on white paper in my opinion. It does show up well on many other colored backgrounds as well, so your flexibility is not limited by the color of the ink. It is very fast drying (almost instantly), and it doesn't get blurry when you are writing letter close together. Their advertising slogan is that the ink has real "staying power", and I would have to agree 100 percent that once it is on the paper it is there to stay. This includes if the paper is left out in weather, as I have found that the ink lasts longer than the paper itself. Once again, a great reason to use the Magnum when you are at a ballgame.
Some suggestions with the use of this marker involve how to best take care of them. The tip has the risk of drying out very quickly, due to its wool construction, and you should make sure that you are always recapping it. The cap fits on very tightly, and takes a little twisting to get off, but is well worth it to protect the tips of these markers. The huge plus side with these markers, is that they will write on basically anything, even if it is soaking wet. Surprisingly, the ink doesn't run, and means that you could use it even if you are out in the rain! With the large barrel, you are also getting a large reservoir of ink, meaning that you will be able to continue creating signs until your hearts content.
Along with all of the positives come a few warnings that should be noted. It is a permanent ink, so you don't want to get it on anything other than the paper. The markers also give off a bad odor that you don't want to breathe in for too long. Much like most marker pens the ink is not at all good for you to swallow or ingest in any fashion, so be careful while you are using it, and keep the markers away from extreme heats. Considering those warnings, I think that they should be kept away from the younger crowds. I do love these markers, and I think that they are extremely great when creating large posters or signs. They work on nearly all surfaces, are highly water resistant, and dry quick enough to prevent any blotching or smudging. These markers are a treat to use, and I give them a high recommendation for anyone needing to create huge visible signs or posters.
