Great Little Car
Pros:
Great gas mileage, spacious interior, quality workmanship.
Cons:
Awkward stereo controls, car gets buffeted a bit in high wind.
The Bottom Line:
Once you get beyond the boxiness, this car makes a great alternative to a minivan, although it only seats five.

Author's Review
I was hesitant when we first looked at this boxy little car. Sitting behind the wheel made all the difference, however.
I cannot believe how spacious the interior of this car really is. I'm 6 feet tall and have long legs. I can literally cross my legs while sitting in the back seat. The instruments are laid-out well (center dash position), and the fit and trim of this car is excellent. The Toyota engine is small, but the car does pretty well, even in very hilly country.
Most dealers keep only one or two vehicles on the lot, so you custom order them. We had to wait about 2 weeks before ours came in. All options on Scion vehicles are dealer-installed, but they come loaded with so many standard features that you probably won't need to have the dealer install many. Standard features include remote door locks, a nice stereo with an IPOD jack, antilock breaks, traction control, power doors and windows, and tinted glass. The options we chose were floor mats, a rear net, and interior floor lighting (really cool).
We're averaging about 31 mpg in the city, and around 33 on the highway.
We love this car, and we love the friendly waves we get from other xb owners.
