Prints good, looks good

The first thing that struck me about the EL-1192BL was the display. Its a green LCD on black, a very nice combination with exceptional definition between numbers. It also prints in two colors (negatives are in red). Other than those features, its a pretty standard 10-key. It has selectors for decimal choice - floating, fixed at 3, 2, 1, no decimals, or force 2 decimals (ie: entering "56" in each mode gets you 56, 56.000, 56.00, 56.0, 56, .56). There's a grand total switch that will let you enter a number of calculations and then add up the results of each calculation, plus another switch to control the printing output (No print, print, print with item count). The 10-key will also do tax calculations.

Its a bit loud, but not any more so than other standard 10-key impact printer. It uses regular calculator tape (2.25" wide) and loading the tape is quite easy. The roller for printing lasts quite some time. I've had mine for over a year, printing every calculation for that time (I'm an accountant), and its still printing dark.

Other accountants actually comment on the display as well as its sleek look. Its an industry thing. When you work with boxy, beige, clunky 10-keys, something usual really stands out.

I'm not fast with my 10-key skills, but some who are may find the EL-1192BL too slow to keep up. It prints at 2.2 lines per second, about in the middle of 10-key speeds.

For the price paid, its an exceptional 10-key.
