Very Nice Hi-8 Viewcam for the Price
Date of Review: Oct 30, 2003
The Bottom Line: Excellent value for what you get. If you have a family like me, why not save some of those memories on a value priced camcorder like the Sharp VL-AH151U.
This is my first camcorder. Let me say this:
for the price I got it for, it was a steal !!
I bought it at Sam's Club for $125.00. It was a display
model that was barely used. In fact, the guy that ran the
department told me he took it out of the box a week ago.
Anyway, this is a very nice camcorder that is lightweight,
durable, and delivers good quality videos.
Everything from the controls to the menu are very easy to
use. If my wife has an easy time with it, anybody can use
it !!
The special "picture" effects are decent and interesting.
The gamma feature is a must, since there is no light or
light connector with the camcorder.
And yes I have read the reviews on comparison with digital
and analog camcorders. I don't care, for the average user
this camcorder fairs well, and if I have to use a Video
capture device with the computer, so be it.
The sound and volume control are a little weak. The sound
is only mono, but adequate. The volume control is slow,
and the max volume could be a little louder.
The battery consumes a lot of power, but it is still O.K.
This concerns me a little, because when we go on trips
and vacations, I don't want the battery to fail in the
middle of recording an event.
My wife, our two kids, and me are happy to own this piece
of equiptment or if you want to call it THE TOY.
