Author's Review
I've owned the Sirius Sportster 4 Receiver and accompanying service for about a month now and I am very pleased with it. The receiver is very sleek and pleasant looking, easy to use, and is loaded with useful features that make satellite radio easier to utilize. This receiver is equipped with Sirius new universal plug & play option that makes swapping your receiver between the car, house, or boat easy. The docking stations for both the car and house are easy to set up and work very well.
This receiver can play through your existing radios via an FM frequency that you select, or through a headphone jack output. It has a 30 channel (10 channels per each of 3 bands) preset that allows you to organize and navigate through your favorite channels easily. It also has the ability to search by category, channel, artist, or song title. You can also save the names of your favorite artists, songs, or sports teams and the receiver will alert you if they are playing on any channel.
This receiver also has the ability to record, pause, rewind, and fast forward 44 minutes of programming, which is great when answering the phone during a song you like, or to use as your own personal instant-reply during sports games.
In addition, the receiver also has an alarm, auto shutdown, sleep mode, and a program alert. Overall, I have been extremely happy with this receiver. The only issue I have with this unit is it is a little complicated to adjust volume directly on the unit
which is not really necessary in a car (because you can adjust the stereo volume), but when on the home docking station it makes it a slight inconvenience. The remote, however, has a volume control so the issue is not a large one. The bottom line is that this receiver is very useful and easy to use, and I would recommend it to anyone.
