Author's Review
This is the best tooth brush I have ever owned. I've even had Crest Spin brush and it was okay but not nearly as good as this Sonicare Essence 5300 Electric Toothbrush. I've been experiencing yellowing teeth from age and coffee, as well as graying from drinking green tea. These stains do not want to brush out. But the Sonicare Essence 5300 Electric Toothbrush has made a huge difference in the whitening process of my teeth as well as made my gums healthier. My gums no longer bleed. There is a built in 2 minute timer which shuts it off after 2 minutes. Other models have 30 second intervals for quadrants. But this one is fine for me, since it doesn't seem worth an extra $30 for the quadrant timer. I don't use it long on the tooth with a large amalgam, as it shakes up the mercury and releases toxic methyl mercury
The very first time I used the Sonicare Essence E5300 Electric Toothbrush, I first rinsed with Plax mouthwash to loosen any plaque. Next I flossed with Johnson and Johnson's yarn type floss. Then I used some baking soda on an old soft toothbrush to neutralize any acid that might remain on the teeth. Finally, I brushed my teeth and gums with the Sonicare Essence E5300 Electric Toothbrush using a gel whitening toothpaste. Wow! My teeth were slick and shiny, and much whiter! I continued to use it all week but not using the baking soda first. As each day went by, and with each use, my teeth got whiter and whiter. I am extremely pleased with my Sonicare Essence E5300 Electric Toothbrush and have purchased more of these as gifts for my family members, and they love it too.
It comes with the charger base, handle with rechargeable battery, a holder for it to sit upright on the sink, room for 2 Sonicare Electric Toothbrushes, and a travel case.
The only disadvantage I can think of is the rechargeable battery has a life of about 2 years and cannot be replaced. Once the battery dies, the toothbrush must be dismantled, permanently damaging it, and the battery disposed of at a toxic waste dump site, which in my area cost $15 to accept this kind of waste. (limit one car load of stuff, so I have to save up my other toxic batteries and compact florescent bulbs etc to make a trip worthwhile).
