A Pocket Size Camera That Can Play With The Big Boys

After buying another manufacturers 8 mega pixel camera, from one of the leaders in digital camera technology, and then reading several reviews, including the editor’s review at C-Net.com. I finally bought the Sony DSC-T100.
I have found the camera to do exactly what it claims, and I have been extremely happy with it so far.
The Macro is absolutely unbeatable; I have never used a digital camera with this high quality macro. The flash fills in the appropriate amount of light even on the tightest of shots.
I don’t have a problem with the on-board flash and have had great results shooting to about fifteen feet away with good results.
ISO settings are usable and I have used the high ISO settings indoors in a low lit room and honestly produced usable images.
Also the Zoom up to 5X looks great, at 10X the images are still very good.
The “Double Anti-Blur” comes in handy a 10x for me, my hands are not as steady as they where so this is a great feature, and is the first camera where I have seen this much improvement using an image stabilizer on trying to squeeze off the perfect shot.
The three inch LCD is also a nice feature on a camera this size. I find it to be well lit, producing sharp crisp examples of my photos.
The menu is pretty basic and easy to use, and fairly intuitive if you’ve used digital cameras in the past.
There is something that bothers me about the Sony’s new packaging though. That is in the past Sony supplied an on-board battery charger cable, which is now an option, or purchased in one of their kits. The same goes with the HD cables. I believe if you are paying this much for a camera you should not have to buy the basics. I see this simply as a way for Sony to make more money on an already fairly pricey camera.
Overall the camera for its size performs better than I expected and though it might be a little expensive I believe you get what you pay for, and in this case you get a pocket size camera that can play with the big boys.
