We have owned this DVD player for a little over a month. We bought it to replace a cheap Toshiba one that never worked right. If you want a DVD player to watch and enjoy movies on with some nice sound and video features then I would recommend this one. It has played all the DVD we have rented from Netflix with no problems. The sound is clear and the picture quality on our 32" old fashioned color tube TV is perfect. It can save stop/resume information for up to 6 different movies. This is convenient as our old machine would not even save this information for one DVD. It was quick and easy to setup and to use. It does not skip or get hung up during playback. The wallpaper can be changed so you are not always having to look at the same stupid Sony screen. You can turn off the automatic shutoff feature. The user manual makes the sound and picture options easy to understand and choose between. It plays CDs, which allows you to not have to have a separate CD player in your living room. The menu is not fancy, but is easy to access and move through on the screen. We never find the sound to be off where the words and lips are not in sync, as we also experienced regularly on our old machine. The remote is comfortable in your hand and can be used in the dark because the play button is larger than the others and shaped differently. The stop button is directly to the right of it so you do not have to try to strain your eyes or turn on a light to stop or start the movie. This has been a good purchase!
