Just purchased this camcorder from Best Buy on 8-6-05. It is the best camcorder on the market. I have owned three other Sony camcorders; this one is worth the investment. When I hook up the camcorder to my hi def Sony TV the results are awesome. I am still learning all the features that this camera has and there are quite a few. I am recording on the Sony Premium Digital Video Cassette tape and the results are exceptional. I am obtaining DVD Progressive Scan quality.
If you have the extra money this camera is a worthwhile investment. It is a little pricey but you will not need to purchase another camcorder in the future. This will be the last camcorder that you will purchase if you want hi def and have a hi def TV to playback your video tapes on. I am very impressed with the results and would recommend this camcorder to everyone.
The only drawback is the NPFM50 battery, which comes with the camcorder. I only obtain 60 minutes of recording time when using the LCD screen. The viewfinder does not telescope so if you use larger batteries than your eye will be further from the viewfinder. The solution that I came up with is to purchase more NP-FM50 batteries. If you can afford this camcorder, then spending $60 per battery is a mute point.
Overall, if you have the funds to purchase this camera you will not be disappointed.
