Overall I am pleased with this system, though I believe the system output is over rated at 900 watts of output. I have an old JVC receiver rated at 200W that cranks out a lot more sound than this.
I was disappointed that there were no S-Video inputs, but after seeing all of the other input options that are available I understand. I am also surprised that there is no firewire connection, a Sony staple in their products.
Do not purchase this based on the picture on the box. Front speaker stands are not included, but can be purchased from Sony at an additional cost. Do not expect HDMI or optical cables either. Sony only includes wiring to the speakers and one coax cable for sound.
The sound is good, and I appreciate that this unit is able to reconize the best input signal. The DVD player is very good and upconverts the CD to 1080i very well through HDMI cabling. The surround sound from the CD is excellent, good bass from the subwoofer, and good sounds from the rear speakers.
I also like that I can program the inputs and outputs on this unit. Though it will take some time to be able to do this properly.
I like this unit, it's looks and programmability, but it does not rock the house and there are few cables included. Look to spend an additional $100 in cabling to make this work properly.
