Watch out for sony clock radios

I have had the terrible experience of buying a sony clock radio after my Panasonic clock radio died after many years of loyal reliable service. I decided to spend a bit extra on my purchase to get a good quality radio. I found the sony to extremely complicated with buttons and dials in inaccessible places. The LCD screen was of dreadful quality being difficult to see in the dark and impossible to see if there was sunlight entering the room. This was with the switch turned to V bright. The shrill of the alarm is similar to a high pitched whistle which does not wake you immediately but provides you with this torturous screech that torments you in your sleep for a sustained period of time depending on how heavy a sleeper you are.
However the most disturbing aspect of the clock radio was the Winter time/Summer time button. By pressing this inadvertently the hour moves on by 1 thus affecting the alarm. I have been late for work so many times because of this clock that it has been confine to the garbage. Fortunately my panasonic radio came back to life and is as reliable as ever.
Sony these days rely on their reputation of the 70s and 80s and have allowed themselves be surrounded with poor designers and innovators. Time to wave them goodbye from the electronics market.
