disappointed

a friend of mine bought this unit and i thought it was very nice with all the extra features it had but after only one month he had to take it in for repair because it would not record properly,once he got it back all was fine for about another month then the same problems came back and he just gave up,at the time i had a recorder (of a different brand)that i was very happy with,i really put that thing to the test burning thousands of them but after 5 years of reliable recording it finally died so i thought id try my luck with the this machine,i had it for 8 days and i had to send it back,i just got a refund instead of an exchange since the odds of getting one that works right look very slim,the problem i had with this unit is when i would record(either dubbing or from an outside analog source) everything appeared to be fine,the display read as if everything was how it should be,then when the recording was finished the display would read blank WHAT!!!!! realizing i just wasted an hour recording nothing,so when i take out the blank it appears that something has been burned on it but the machine says otherwise,avoid this at any cost,unless your just looking for a player,in that case it would probably be fine,this review would be much easier to understand if i could write what i really want,but hopefully i can save somebody a headache
