Pros: Small, easy to use, good picture, cheap, available all over the place
Cons: Cheap feel, no optical out
The Bottom Line: A good little DVD player that should be more than sufficient for first time users or those that don't require the top of the line.

Review:
A Little Background I purchased this player along with a base model receiver, basic speakers, and fairly nice TV (that they actually paid for) as an early Christmas gift for the aunt and uncle. Last month during... |

Sony DVP-NS57P: Not bad for a low-priced player, but not problem-free, either.

Pros: Easy to connect/set up, inexpensive, works with most TV brands
Cons: It's not really HD ready....and it has a few issues with playback.
The Bottom Line: While it's not as bad as a cheap player, the Sony DVP-NS57P is all right but not earthshakingly so. Best used as a secondary player on a standard TV.

Pros: Easy to use, good picture and sound quality.
Cons: "Touchy" remote.
The Bottom Line: A solid buy among entry-level DVD players.

Review: The DVP-NS575P is Sony s entry-level DVD player. I m not really a big movie guy, or a home entertainment nut for that matter. In fact, our living room is highlighted by a 13-year old 20 inch wide TV with a trusty pair of bunny ears on top. Thus, it...

Pros: Light, Snazzy Styling, displays JPG & MP3, vastly superior to Sony's year ago model.
Cons: None discovered yet. Connection costs are outrageous if your Nirvana includes Hi-Definition.
The Bottom Line: Subtle changes created a winner. I wish Sony were not so miserly and slow to offer features available from other Manufacturers. The obsolescence game is getting tiresome.

Review: Sony DVP-NS575P CD/DVD Player
Note: The "/S" at the end of the official Model Number of this product seems to indicate the color of the case. Ours is Silver, the only other choice is black. We would have preferred black but our... |

Pros: Compact, Great basic functioning, Easy-to-read display, Memory function.
Cons: Some delay on layered/branching DVDs, Might not fit some colorschemes
The Bottom Line: A decent DVD player, the Sony DVP-NS57P might not fit my colorscheme, but its functioning is more than enough to satisfy most consumers!

Review: There is a certain irony to my brother's recent upgrading of his whole entertainment system; he has ended up with a DVD player that I found I enjoy more than my own! He recently purchased a Sony DVP-NS57P DVD Player to go with his new Sanyo 19" HD...

Pros: Plays older DVD's cheaper players might not be able to read; good picture and sound
Cons: A-B Repeat and other control features are more complicated, not as convenient to use
The Bottom Line: The DVP-NS57P is a good value, if you're wanting a basic DVD player. It's not fancy and doesn't do HD or upconverting but for a basic player it's worthwhile.

Review: Well, I have learned a good lesson this year. Stay away from those ultra-compact DVD players that run 30 to 40 dollars. Unless your DVD's are in pristine condition, those players won't play older or more heavily used discs at all. I have seen the...

Pros: Picture quality, ergonomics, build quality, Sony special features.
Cons: Small buttons on remote and unit. Embedded copy protection. Cheap but deeper discounts are rare.
The Bottom Line: Best buy for 480p quality for regular TV.

Review: The only redeeming quality of this player is its half-decent stereo imaging; this doesn't mean it SOUNDS good.

Pros: Many great features, plays VCD's too, remote works Sony TV's, handles marginal discs well
Cons: Only has s-video and component outputs, some buttons on remote too sensitive, flimsy cabinet
The Bottom Line: This is a great buy for the average user and will be compatible with the newer TV's
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: First, I believe this model as of 2/2006 is discontinued, so you will probably only find it on eBay and the liquidators these days.
