Pros: Good reduction of ambient noise. Sounds good with pop music.
Cons: Resonances around 350Hz and 2 kHz especially noticeable with solo instruments. Too expensive.
The Bottom Line: Phones sound good with pop music, but solo instruments sound very unnatural due to resonant peaks. At this price, I expected flatter frequency response.

Review: I have an older pair of MDR-V600 headphones (a predecessor to this model) which I like a lot - they are extremely comfortable, even after hours of use, they sound good, and they do a decent job reducing ambient noise. So when I wanted another...

Pros: - Extremely precise sound reproduction. - Portable design. - 50mm drivers for superb bass.
Cons: - Amplifier is needed for best performance. - Price. - Circum-aural design can be uncomfortable.
The Bottom Line: Astounding headphones let you hear sounds in your favorite recordings you have never heard before. Portable design, and closed-back circum-aural speakers are almost sound-proof.

Review: I first want to state that the picture Epinions.com is using for the MDR-V900HD is far from the correct product. The description of the actual appearance is in my review below.

Review: I replaced my aging Sony headphones with this model after doing a lot of research. I wanted a "traditional" headphone that would isolate me from the surrounding noise and be very comfortable to wear.
