"Excuse me, but aren't you Guy Haines?"

Date of Review:  Apr 20, 2003
The Bottom Line: Hitchcock at his best.
Review: The 1950s were a great decade for Alfred Hitchcock. Hitch made such great films as "Rear Window" "Vertigo" and "North by Northwest", as well as some lesser but still good films like "The Trouble with Harry" and "To Catch a Thief". "Strangers on a...

Strangers on a Train (1951)

Date of Review:  Sep 22, 1999
The Bottom Line: One of Alfred Hitchcock's best films, this film is essential to anyone who enjoys Hitchcock, classic films, or suspense thrillers.
Review:
Along with Rebecca, Strangers on a Train is perhaps the greatest film in the career of director Alfred Hitchcock. An extraordinarily tense film, the suspense is slowly ratcheted up from the innocuous beginnings of a chance meeting and...

Hitchcock's Creepiest Villain

Date of Review:  Oct 24, 2000
Review: I have never been so creeped out by a character in a film in my life. Perhaps that's because I am not a huge fan of horror or suspense films. In watching one Hitchcock film a week in my Hitchcock class at UAA, I have been exposed to a little more of...

First-class Hitch

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2000
Review: By Max Scheinin.

You never need an excuse to revisit Strangers on a Train -- it's a rivetingly suspenseful film that never runs out steam and livens up even the slowest of days -- but right about (lemme check my watch) -- yep, now -- you...

Thrilling with Robert Walker's strong performance

Date of Review:  Dec 31, 1999
Review: "Excuse me, but aren't you Guy Haines?"

Those are the first words of the film, uttered by
dandified mama's boy Bruno Antony (Robert
Walker.) He flirtatiously bumps into the leg of Guy
Haines (Farley Granger,) a masculine,

Criss Cross! I'll do your murder, You do mine!

Date of Review:  Sep 6, 2000
Review: In my opinion, this movie is one of Alfred Hitchcock's finest works. Based on Patricia Highsmith's novel, Hitchcock has taken her story and turned it into one of the greatest thrillers of his career. This is an early film, made in 1951, and in black...

Excellent

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2001
The Bottom Line: This is a terrific thriller, that becomes very suspenseful and features a great Robert Walker performance
Review: The Master of Suspense brings us a story that isn?t quite as tense as some of his other works, but is very well done. It is classed as a thriller, but it is more of a drama until the last twenty minutes or so. It also has some huge laughs.

Hitchcock's most dangerous stunt -- you'll never guess!

Date of Review:  Oct 16, 2000
Review: OK, think about it for a while. I have other things I want to tell you about first anyhow. The novel was by Patricia Highsmith, and Alfred snuck the movie rights without making a ripple. Buying anonymously, he got the rights to this film for a mere...

Don?t Talk to Strangers: Strangers on a Train

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2009
The Bottom Line: A great mystery suspense thriller that lives up to its reputation and more from Alfred Hitchcock. Must see!
Review: Strangers on a Train (1951)

This is an interesting movie from Alfred Hitchcock, who started his directorial career in England and worked quite a few years for British International Pictures before being discovered by David O Selznick and...
