Sunbeam Hand/Stand 6-Speed Mixer with Glass Bowl
Date of Review: Jun 10, 2002
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the Sunbeam Hand/Stand Mixer for those who want a powerful, inexpensive, reliable mixer with dough hooks, a stand, and a bowl.
My son bought me the Sunbeam Hand/Stand Mixer with Glass Bowl, Model 2372 for my birthday in 1996 for the purpose of making those delicious home made cookies and cakes and it is still going strong without any problems. I had a hand mixer, however, it did not have cookie dough beaters, so I had to mix the cookie dough with a large spoon, which as we all know takes forever. I am amazed at the power that the Sunbeam Hand/Stand Mixer has.
Features
200 Watt Motor
6-speeds w/Burst of Power feature
Beater Eject Button
Regular Beater Hooks
Dough Hooks
Stand with Turntable
3 1/4 Quart Glass Bowl
The Mixer
The Sunbeam Mixer is white and lightweight. It has 6-speeds and a button for a Burst of Power. The Burst of Power allows for an added boast to the maximum power level at the press of the button. Once the button is released, the mixer will return to the set speed setting.
The regular beater hooks and dough hooks are chrome plated, easy to insert into the mixer and are dishwasher safe. The dough hooks are used for speeds 1 and 2 on the mixer and easily kneads dough with little effort. The mixer has a button to eject the beaters and dough hooks when usage is completed.
The Sunbeam Mixer is so powerful, I have yet to pass the 3rd speed. I use it constantly for cakes, homemade frostings, mashed potatoes, and cookies. It has the type of beaters that keep the mixture in the bowl while you mix and not splatter out the mixture onto your cabinets and counters for those who have undergone that experience with other mixers.
The mixer unit cleans easily by wiping it off with a sponge or dishrag.
The Stand
The stand is a white heavy plastic with a turntable that you manually turn while mixing your dough. You have the option of keeping the glass bowl and the mixer on the stand or taking off the mixer and the glass bowl and mixing it on the counter. The mixer has little holes on the bottom of it to snap back into place on the mixer stand. The stand wipes clean with a sponge or dishrag.
The Glass Bowl
The glass bowl is 3 1/4 quarts and is heavy, which is actually good so breakage isn't easy. It is dishwasher safe, however it is not oven safe.
Final Impression
I really love the Sunbeam Hand/Stand Mixer and enjoy using it at least once a week. I find it to be highly reliable, especially after 6 years of usage.
Warranty
The warranty is 2 years parts and labor or replacement.
