Author's Review
I really wanted to buy the Ionic Breeze Quadra from Sharper Image, but that price! $350 seemed waaay too steep. When I discovered the XJ2000 on the web while searching for a lower price on the Quadra (impossible), I was skeptical, but for the price, I could buy three of them and still be money way ahead versus the Quadra. Overall, after using them for over a year (one in my bedroom, one in my home office, the other in my work office), I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results. The smaller collection plate was a letdown, but I found that it does collect quite a bit of gunk. The only drawback is that on my models, the plate isn't stainless steel, it's just plain steel, and after a year-plus of operation, the edge nearest the pins is beginning to looked a bit burned and rusty. Also, it can put out a fair amount of ozone smell, but when I found that to be a problem, setting it to Low pretty much eliminated the problem. I don't recommend using it in a small room or your car, at least not all of the time. The XJ2000 model puts out too much ozone for that small of a space. A friend of mine was impressed with mine and wanted to get one, and I just looked on eBay and found several auctions for $35 "buy it now!" At that price, you could buy TEN of them for what it would cost for a single Quadra! You really can't go wrong.
