Product Review

Sharp! Great Lens...but hard to find a good copy.

by   spammusubi ,   Aug 16, 2006

Pros:  "L" Quality when you get a good copy. Very sharp.

Cons:  Known quality issues. Hard to find in local stores to test copies.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I debated between getting this lens versus the more expensive Canon "L" lens equivalent, the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens.

I eventually bought the Tamron since all the reviews raved about it. But be warned, all the forums cautioned about bad copies of this lens floating around. Tamron is not known for the best quality control...but if you find one of the sharp versions of this lens it is the 2nd best thing to "L" lens quality you can get (and fraction of the price :) ). I found a great seller on eBay you sent his sample pictures and answered all my concerns about the sharpness of the lens at all lengths. I have been using this lens for several weeks now and it is fantastic. I even did the forum famous Monika test - http://www.mwfoto.9x.pl/tamron28-75.htm and my copy of the Tamron 29-75mm was dead on. Love this lens for my Rebel XT.
