Author's Review
Till Oblivion came around I was strictly a First Person Shooter Game Player. I never understood why people get so addicted to Role Playing Games. When I heard all the Hype that this game was getting and that it was a simpler RPG For beginners ,I Purchased it and can now fully understand how people can get so Sucked into an RPG . Oblivion from the beginning starts off with you in a jail cell where the game takes you along the inside pretty much teaching you the basics of Combat and Magic. After about 30 minutes your outside in a world lush with Trees, plants and Areas to explore. Its almost like the scene in the wizard of Oz as dorothy steps out to Oz. Its that incredible a scenery.
You Now must complete your first Quest given to you by the king. No Spoilers here.
With many Side quests, Objects to collect, Magic spells to conjure up, Items to purchase or steal , potions to make, people to meet and places to explore... you soon forget what you were told to do in the beginning. Luckily there is a very easy Quest objectives area that keeps track of all this For you like a note pad. The interface take a few minutes to get used to and you soon understand how to use the interface and use all the items you made and collected.
While on your travels you'll meet wild animals, thieves, devilish creatures, and all sorts of nasties to fight.
But if this was just a whack em kill em game it would just be like a FPS. You really must think and use your weapons and potions together such as poisoning your sword , blade or arrows. using invisibilty and other really neat stuff.
If you have become addicted to games like Everquest I must warn you now say good bye to your life and welcome to Oblivion. This game is That good.
Graphics are top notch making you really need a high end PC and 3D Card to play this with decent frame rates.
Sounds and music are great too with Birds, Dogs and water making you feel like your REALLY in the world.
Bottom Line:I now understand how people get addicted to RPG'S because I have played Oblivion. This game can take hundreds of hours if you do every side quest , Pick up evry Item and talk to every person you meet to find out more about The World Around you. An Amazing Game which really started Me On a new adventure Of Gaming.
