Complete Bitches Brew Sessions (August 1969-February 1970) [2004 Reissue] [Long Box] by Miles Davis

Wow... I don't even know where to begin with this box set. When the original Bitches Brew was released in 1970, Miles changed jazz forever. He ushered in a new style of jazz, fusing jazz and rock. This new music was appropriately dubbed, "Fusion". Though almost annoyingly free-form in some parts, the album didn't go gold for its melodies and beauty. Rather, for its creativity. This box set truly brings out what went on during those groundbreaking sessions. From the high powered maelstrom of sound on "Corrado" to the serene tranquility of "Recollections" (both songs are previously unreleased), this set is all good.
The set features every song recorded during the remarkable recording dates considered the "Bitches Brew Sessions", as the name suggests. Included tunes are those from "Bitches Brew" (of course), "Circle in the Round", "Big Fun", and "Live/Evil", plus nine unreleased songs. Every song on this box set is beautiful in its own way. Prepare your ears, though: this album contains some very wild material!
