The Five People You Meet In Heaven

I am a blind student. I receive books from the blind each month. One of the books they sent me last February was "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" by Mitch Albom. I'm really glad they sent it to me, because the book touched my heart in ways that I needed at that time. I hope that I will be able to explain it clearly so that you can see just how wonderful the story truly is.

Beginning of Story
In the beginning the author straight out tells you that Eddie ( the main character) is going to die. Eddie is a maintenance man for a local Amusement park that he has worked at all his life. The book counts down the time until his death. Before he dies there is a huge event that occurs. Eddie is working on one of the rides at the park, and the brakes go out on one of the cars. A little girl is wandering around the park and is walking under the car. It is about to crash her when Eddie jumps in an saves her. From trying to save the girl, he is smashed under the car and killed. Heroic man right?

In Limbo
Before Eddie can go to heaven, he must meet five different people. Eddie is constantly asking these people if he saved the little girl and if she is still alive. None of the first people give him an answer.
The first person he meets is a "Blue Guy". He was a circus man and his body is completely blue. He takes Eddie back to very young childhood memories. Eddie watches himself playing catch with a friend. The ball goes into the middle of the road and Eddie runs out to get it. The blue guy is driving down the road and slams on his breaks just before hitting Eddie. Eddie realizes that he is really lucky that he did not die that day. After the Blue Guy gets done showing Eddie his memories, the blue guy turns from blue to a normal person and then gets to go to heaven.
The second person Eddie meets is his General from Vietnam. The General is driving down the road with several guys in the car. Eddie was one of the passengers in the car. The General is about to hit a bomb, and realizes it so he throws the others out of the car to save them, but the General ends up dying.(another heroic act) Eddie was thrown out of the car and saved, but the bomb still crushed his leg, and this is something Eddie had to live with for a long time.
The third person Eddie meets is his wife. Her meets her at weddings, because she loves weddings. Eddie watches a memory of Him with his wife driving down the road in a car. There is an accident involved and his wife is killed. Eddie survives.
The fourth person he meets is the founder of the Amusement Park. This man teaches Eddie about his dad. Eddie and his dad never got along really good, because Eddie thought his dad was really mean. He found out that the way his dad died was from saving a friend. This friend has assulted his Mom, so his Dad chased after him and the friend fell in a lake. Eddie's Dad jumped in the lake to save the friend, and ended up getting pnemonia and dying from it. Pretty Heroic once again.
The fifth person he meets is very special. She is a little girl that Eddie ansadently killed when he was in Vietnam. He threw a bomb in her house, but didn't know that she was inside. Eddie takes back what he did to her by rubbing her burns away. Then the little girl tells him that the girl from the amusement park was successfully saved and still living. After hearing this great news and taking back what he did to this other little girl, the little girls walks him up to heaven. It is VERY touching.

Final Words
This book is a very touching book that will surely bring tears to your eyes. It will touch the hearts of any who read it.
