Author's Review
It's too bad that CD's can only hold about 18 songs, because Garth has about 30 hits.
But nonetheless, he puts together his greatest hits album, coming from his first three albums, "Garth Brooks" "Ropin the Wind" and "No Fences" What you get is one of the greatest compilations of all time, and a classic CD that will be talked about for years.
Here are the tracks:
1) Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up- A nice fast track, interesting lyrics (****)
2) Friends in Low Places- Puts Garth close with his friends, a concert favorite and a great song to karaoke to (*****)
3) Calling Baton Rouge- Great song about a lady he met in Louisiana. GREAT song (*****)
4)River - Slow song, good message. Not his best though (***)
5)Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) - The life of a trucker. Great lyrics, performed excellent by Garth. One of my favorites (*****)
6) The Thunder Rolls - An unfaithful man is caught thanks to a thunderstorm. Powerful lyrics, really good imagery comes out of it (****)
7) American Honky Tonk Bar Association - Another song with a message that makes Garth rich. His songs relate so good with his fans. This isn't my favorite, but I can see why it's a hit (***)
8) If Tommorrow Never Comes - Another one of my favorites. Last line tells the tale "Tell that someone that you love, just what your thinking of, if tomorrow never comes" (*****)
9) Unanswered Prayers - A well written song that has a very good message, and makes you think (****)
10) Standing Outside the Fire - Another fast-tempoed song. It's OK (***)
11) Rodeo - Another concert favorite. How can you not like this song? (****)
12) What's She Doing Now - A very good song about getting over a loved one. It's tough (***)
13) We Shall Be Free - OK song. I think "Cowboy Bill" should've been on here instead (**)
14)Papa Loved Mama - tells a funny story. Performed well (***)
15) Shameless - Good lyrics. Another favorite at concerts (****)
16) Two Of a Kind - Good innuendos. Another Garth hit (almost too many) (***)
17) That Summer - tells a good story, good lyrics, fast beat (***)
18) The Dance - A brilliant finish to a brilliant album. I still get chills every time I hear this song. Arguably one the greatest songs of all time. (*****)
