Amazing sound from mono radio.

The Bottom Line: If you are tired of those overpriced, gaudy, plastic radios that dominate the market look no further than the Tivoli model one radio. Elegant simplicity at it's finest!
I just received the model one radio for Christmas and would like to share my thoughts on the unit. I was immediately taken by the elegant, nostalgic design of the radio. About the size and shape of a brick with a real wood casing, the Tivoli has a timeless appeal.
Unlike most modern electronic music devices, this is the ultimate in simplicity. It has one large dial to find stations, and two smaller dials that either control the volume or select the band. That's it!!! You don't have to have an advanced degree in engineering to figure this radio out. No station presets, graphic equalizers, or obnoxious flashing neon displays here.
The radio has one mono speaker about 3 inches in diameter that produces a deep rich sound that amazed me when I first turned it on. How they get such a rich sound from such a small speaker is beyond me.
I live in a very rural area with terrible radio reception and just a handful of radio stations that I can tune in, that is until I plugged the Tivoli in. I am now able to receive dozens of signals that none of my other, more expensive radios would pull in. It seems like the dial "hones" in on stations that digital radios can't.
I am very pleased with the radio and my only regret is that I didn't buy the model two which has a separate unit with another speaker and is expandable to include a CD player option or subwoofer if you choose to upgrade later.
