The Perfect Mix

It would be difficult for anyone to pull off making a comedy about a subject as touchy as Nazism and World War Two. But in my opinion, Mel Brooks succeeded with To Be Or Not To Be. Mel Brooks combines the perfect mix of both comedy and drama in a movie that you will laugh with and also possibly cry with. His comedy shines with clever numbers such as "Naughty Nazis" and cracks such as "We're doing to Poland what you're doing to Shakespeare", when Brooks's character asks a Nazi what he thinks of his "Highlights from Hamlet." The movie does touch upon the horrors of World War Two, but in such a way that it is neither inappropriate nor nonchalant. In fact, it even brought some tears to my eyes. Although at times somewhat unrealistic and other times a bit cheesy, To Be Or Not To Be was, in my opinion, a great movie to watch whether you're looking for laughs or even a dramatic movie.
