The objective to this game is get all five tapes in each level; the skate tape, the high score tape, the pro score tape, the hidden tape, and the box tape (also the competition medals). Another objective is to build up your characters skill points to be able to bust bigger and batter tricks (or just hit the ground nicely).
GRAPHICS: You know I never really actually knew how good the Playstation version of this game was until I played it for the Dreamcast. It amazed me the graphics were damn near the same, except the Dreamcast version is touched up to almost perfect. I thought that the graphics were good enough on the Playstation, but the Dreamcast made them a lot better. All of the players that you can use look that much better, all the boards look that much better, and the environments definitely look that much better. Just imagine, the Playstation graphics times four. 10/10
SOUND: Now this is what I call sound. The soundtrack to this game is sweet. I sometimes play this game, not just because it's fun to play, but also because the music kick's ass. I mean who can resist the Superman song. Plus, not only does the music add to the fun factor of this game, so does the sound fx. The sound fx are so realistic that when your rolling down the street you can actually tell that your wheels are on the ground. Also, when you hit a rail to do a grind trick you can actually hear the board sliding down the metal. 10/10
CONTROLS: The controls are really easy to manage, to give you an example my little sister who is 8 can pull off some pretty good tricks, and she hardly ever plays it. Even the beginners that play this game will be able to pull off tricks. The great thing about the controls is that the better you get, the better your tricks will get, which in turn racks up the points. 10/10
FUN FACTOR: One-player or two-player, either way this game is so fun to play, that it's hard to put it down. I found myself playing over and over trying to get every tape and medal, and then eventually building up all the characters skill points. I couldn't fail, I was so obsessed with beating each level, that if didn't land a trick I started over. There are so many other reasons this game is fun; getting new boards, the music, the selection of boarders to choose from, and all the different courses. The two-player modes are also cool, but there are so many of them that it would take me all day to explain why. 10/10
Overall this game should make Tony Hawk more money than he even needs. I don't care what he get's paid as long as he and his company keep making games like this. If you haven't already bought this game for the Playstation, go out and buy this now. Even though this is a skate boarding game you don't have to be a boarder to play it, you don't even have to like skate boarding to like this game.
Exclusive* I have played the demo for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on the Playstation, and so far the game is already better than the first one. From what I have played (one outside skate course) this game is great. I like this demo so much I play it over and over. The graphics so far, seem to be just as good as number one if not better. Plus, there are a lot of new tricks to master, and a hopefully another great soundtrack to listen to. This was only the demo that I played, so who knows how good it will be when it's all put together. Oh yeah, there is also a skate park creator on the demo, which is quite astonishing. If you would like to play the Tony Hawk 2 demo, you can go to Activision.com, or you could just buy the June issue of Official Playstation magazine.
