Author's Review
I bought this DVD player as a replacement for an old Apex model that was not playing alot of the newer DVD's, was making funny sounds, and discs were quite warm. Talked the wife into getting another DVD player and I got this one by accident. I was anticipating getting a 2800 series, but they were out of them and I got this instead.
I searched for the best player for the buck for around 100.00 and I was torn between the Toshiba and a Panasonic. The Toshiba plays DVDs, VCDs (some), Mp3s, cd's, WMA cd's, and is kodak photo CD compatible, however, I have not tried all of these features.
Hookup was easy with RCA cables, but I went out later that day to purchase component cables to connect to my new Toshiba television. Outstanding picture and sound. The DVD player has sound settings for Virtual surround, but I have a receiver and surround system for that. It also has a bunch of pre-set color levels to adjust the colors for animated movies, and pure black to darken those scary late night movies.
I have had this for about 3 or 4 months now and have not run into anything I do not like to prevent me from buying it. Some things I would like would be for in the display on the player to have more info than just how much time has elapsed (you can see it through the remote on screen. A bigger screen for the info. and that is about it.
The size is a slim sized, it is about 2 inches tall, and fits nicely on the shelf above my TV.
I would definatly purchase this DVD player again.
