Amazingly written, however an unoriginal plot

I wandered aimlessly into target one day, and found myself looking at the book section (which was very slim but you never know what you might find for less than barnes and noble). I came across 'Twilight and 'The moon' because the cover art grabbed my attention. Reading the description I couldn't refuse spending 27.50 on both of the books. As soon as I got home I delved right in and began reading like a madman.

The story starts off with Bella Swan riding to the airport with her mother, as she has decided to live with her father in a town called forks, while her mother and stepfather travel together. She is uneasy about the move, as she never really liked forks much even when she was a child. Very mature for her age, she thought she wouldn't fit in, as she hadn't fit in at the larger school in phoenix either. Yet she finds that she fits in very well, perhaps more than she would like. She has made many new friends, and 3 male's in particular that seem to bug her frequently.

Then she curiously set's her eyes on the Cullen's. Strange and isolated as they seemed from the rest she had a slight attraction to them, and couldn't resist finding out whatever she could about them. She seems to have a certain interest in Edward Cullen as she tells the readers of his beauty. Then she discovers she has biology with him, and discovers that he isn't very friendly, giving her disapproving stares with clenched fists and sitting as far away as their lab table would allow. Going to the office at the end of the day she overhears him arguing with the secretary to change his biology class. Confused as to what she did Bella doesn't know what to make of this.

Edward didn't show up for school for a while, and when he returns he acts perfectly normal, making small talk and such with her. However, she notices his eyes had changed from almost completely black to a honey gold color. Then she finds herself wrapped up in thoughts of Edward, he is in her dreams, and she thinks about him a majority of the time. He always seems to save her when she is in trouble, as he protected her from getting crushed by a car, as well as raped by four strangers. This twisted tale all comes together he reveals his secret... That he is a vampire. However by that time she is too drawn to him, there is nothing she can do to get him out of her head.

They begin to spend more and more time together as the twisted tale turns to suspense and action almost immediately after they become boyfriend and girlfriend. Her being human, and around a vampire family can cause many complications for her, as well as the family. While they were civil and chose not to hunt humans, other vampires were confused by their decision, and decide to try their shot at catching her.

So I'm not going to spoil the rest of the story for you, but I can't begin to describe how into this book I was. I simply couldn't put it down for two whole days. The beginning started slow, however when the plot started to unravel you understood why Stephenie Meyer decided to build up the events and characters as she did. The action is incredible towards the end... and it leaves you absolutely NEEDING the second and third book in the series.

Now despite all of the positive things I've had to say, how well written the book was, and how suspenseful, it wasn't very original at all. You could put it side by side with any other vampire novel and have almost the same plot. While a few small details, such as how vampires live, etc. were different, the only diverse quality I really saw was Stephenie Meyers wonderful writing talent that made it stand out.

The pages had larger words, which I don't believe anyone would have a hard time reading. Also for some odd reason, it gives a sense of accomplishment that in this book you can go a hundred pages, while you may only get through 50 in a different book. Maybe I'm just odd though? All in all, this book was an excellent value, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. While it is classified as a teen read, I believe everyone would get some enjoyment out of it.
