Better the second time around
Pros:
Makes a ton of waffles
Cons:
I wish it would make them darker then it does
The Bottom Line:
At this time, I'm still deciding on this product.
I'll update after seeing if the waffles can be better toasted.

Author's Review
We were very excited after receiving this waffle maker for
Christmas. It was the biggest waffle maker I had ever seen and was anxious to share the joy of eating waffles as a family.
The very first morning after Christmas, we eagerly went to the kitchen. We plugged in the waffle maker, set it to medium and whipped up the Belgian waffle batter as we waited for the unit to heat up. The manual says that it might take a bit longer for the unit to come to temp the first time...so we were very patient while we waited for the beep of the waffle maker to let us know we could start cooking.
About an hour later (no exaggeration), a now very hungry cook (me) decided that the sensor and light must be broken. We decided to go ahead and start cooking anyway. The batter poured and the recommended 10 minute wait, still no beep indicated doneness. I decided to peek...the waffles tore between the layers so I closed the unit and waited 5 or so more minutes. When we finally decided that the waffles were ready to come out, the non-stick surface refused to give up half the waffles. Making the whole process completely unfestive. Now my poor family has to deal with a starving, grumpy cook who's scrapping doughy remains out of the waffle maker.
So the grumpy cook, completely losing her appetite, kissed the family and went back to bed.
We returned the gift in anticipation of getting one that worked. Thankfully, they are presently sold out and we have the option to choose something else, which we will do after reading other reviews of this company. It's too bad because it looked really great.
Update!!! March 2005.
We received the Villaware replacement a few weeks back. I wanted to try it out a few times before I wrote anymore.
The second unit works much better.
*The non-stick surface helped out by cooking spray has no
issues.
*Indicator light works but still no beep.
*Even at the highest setting waffles don't get too crispy.
That's probably only a negative for me because I like
crispy. (I don't mean burned...that's my Mom :) )
But, I'll keep experimenting.
It's not perfect, but the negatives are outweighed by the positives. We'll definitely keep it this time around.
