Product Review

Top of the Line!

by   chewonit ,   Sep 25, 2007

Pros:  Great pictures. Good flash power at night - no usual fogging like other cameras.

Cons:  Unable to copy transfer image from inserted SD card into camera's internal memory.

The Bottom Line:  Great quality camera despite the Vivitar brand that has been generally perceived to be otherwise. A lot of features.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this when it was on clearance at BigLots for $149 including tax. I received a lot of flak from many people at Slickdeals.net simply because of the Vivitar band. A cheap camera with low end qualities they said. But little did they know about Vivitar that marked this camera with their "Series 1" branding - which means the top of the line product quality - and I was impressed! I used it for my two day shoot one the golf course in Las Vegas. Shot over 130 pictures and a few video clips - without recharge for 2 days! Picture quality was shockingly good even not at full 10.1 megapixels. The picture quality beat a more expensive Canon camera that my colleague used. The recorded file size is also surprisingly smaller than expected for the image resolution. Editing the picture file or resaving it will likely balloon the file size. The camera has a metallic body and all the bells and whistles. It even have a 32MB internal memory. Reasonably light weight and compact. It has a very good robust feel to handling this camera. The LCD screen is big by comparison to the body size of this camera. The only design flaw was that while I can copy images from the internal memory out to a SD card, I cannot do the reverse when I need to copy my colleague's picture into my camera. Other than that a great little camera with good battery life and performance.
