Great Car w/ Major Drawbacks!

Date of Review:  Dec 28, 2003
Review: I leased my 2003 VW Passat back in June and now have 5800 miles on the odometer and have found the car to have terrific charm as well as profound drawbacks. My version is the GLS with the 1.8T engine and 5 speed auto transmission (bad combination!)...

Passat

Date of Review:  Jun 16, 2003
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend it because of the poor reliability and expensive upkeep.
Review: I leased a 2003 Passat sedan because it was a relatively good price and i was planning on purchasing a new car upon the completion of a business deal I was working on, and let me say, I found this car very unfcomfortable, loud, and very unreliable...

World Class Design for the people at reasonable prices

Date of Review:  Apr 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you are a driver with a growing family seeking a safe economic alternative to the venerable beastly SUV's this AWD car is a must drive.
Review: The VW Passat GLS 4Motion Wagon is a world class designed ergonomically correct very comfortable autobahn cruiser for thousands less than others, sold at reasonable prices. This car, as we soon discovered, can be had for a very reasonable price and...

PASSAT GLX or Audi (lite) ?

Date of Review:  Nov 4, 2002
The Bottom Line: There is no car for under $30,000 that compares. I have looked at Honda, Nissan, Volvo, GM, Ford, Subaru, all fell short of this German Touring Sedan "on a budget."
Review:
I went to buy/lease an Audi A4 at the local dealer in Scottsdale, AZ. With in minutes he was talking about a $500 per month with money down etc.... and took a very snotty attitude with me when I questioned the value of the lease. As the car was...

Like having the most expensive house in a middle income neighborhood

Date of Review:  Oct 28, 2002
The Bottom Line: An eight-cylinder German sedan for well under forty has its appeal. Sadly, the W8 still looks like a car that sells for under thirty, and isn't much fun to drive.
Review: Reviewers of the Passat have often stated that it has the look and feel of a much more expensive car. It seems VW has decided to call their bluff. For 2002 a W8 engine became available in the car for $38,450. So, can the Passat truly support such a...

Nice Car. Poor service.

Date of Review:  Dec 20, 2002
The Bottom Line: Power, safety, all wheel drive for low to mid $30K range. Sub standard service departments.
Review: I recently spent considerable time shopping for a car for my wife. Her 95 BMW 325 was too small for us (new baby),and was not good in snow and rain, and it was getting rather old. My task at hand was to find a safe car with all wheel drive. Suburu's...

Nice looks and drive...poor thought into climate control

Date of Review:  Feb 19, 2004
Review: We love our VW Passat GLS Wagon Except for the climate control system...the "off" position still blows air and makes the car way too warm or cold. It would be nice to be able to fine tune the temperature more.

Another waste of space is the...

I found a car, that is Sport and Roomy

Date of Review:  Dec 3, 2006
Review: I just bought my pre-owned 2003 GLS VW Passat.

I test drove so many mid-size sedans, I didn't ever think I'd find that one that fit for my needs.

Sound system the Monsoon system is pretty nice, it's no Bose but it gets the job...

Why I would not buy another

Date of Review:  Mar 31, 2004
The Bottom Line: I would not buy another
Review: I have a 2003 Passat GLS wagon with the 1.8 liter engine. It was purchased in June 2003 and has just over 16,000 now (March 04). It has been a wonderful car. It drives well, the interior is very well put together, both in terms of ergonomics and...
