Pros:  Great, addicting gameplay

Cons:  block like elbows and sharp edges

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

From the ages of Genesis, and, Super Nintendo, WWF Royal Rumble was every wrestling fans favorite game. I have to admit; those games are why I watched wrestling for that brief time. The next generation of this series has showed up on the Sega Dreamcast. This game features 20 wrestlers, and two hidden characters (Shane and Vince McMahon). My only complaint is that this game was limited to what it had. I’ll explain this in my review. Since I loved the first version of this game back in the mid 90’s, I was anticipating one of the best wrestling games ever. This falls a bit short of my expectations, but nevertheless, a great game. Lets see how Royal Rumble stacks up. Rating from one to five stars.

Here’s The Breakdown

Gameplay
***1/2
That’s it? I kept asking myself when I saw the two game modes. You can play versus mode and royal rumble. I know what your think, you don’t want this game now because of the limited gameplay. There are six backstage arenas you can go to, to continue your fight. The game makes up for it, in its entertainment. The royal rumble is fun and lengthy, I suggest you open a fresh can of soda before you start this mode. The versus mode is extremely fun with your friends, pick yourself and a partner and your ready to go.

Graphics
****
Close but not quite enough. This game was for the most part, flawless in graphical features, with big exception. You would think that the Dreamcast surpass this, but there is some blocky ness with their joints and the overall look could a little touching up. Nothing major. Other than that it is a great looking game.

Controls
****
Probably one of the easiest to learn wrestling games as far as control goes. I found that even picked it up. Right trigger executes specials, A punches and Y runs. That’s basically it! You’ll be up and going within a few matches, then you’ll be ready to destroy the computer. These simple controls let you learn fast, but hard to master.

Overall
****
This game is filled with weeks of fun with your friends or against the computer. Choose your favorite wrestler and win the royal rumble. The biggest problem this game suffered from was that there were only two game modes. But then again, it was called “Royal Rumble” so why should it have anything else? Bottom line is that if you are a die hard wrestling fan, or if your like me, just like wrestling for its games, than definitely pick this one up today. And lay the smack down on your friends.
