Simple, attractive and effective!

I have gone through a few blenders in my day. As a college student I went through two blenders from abuse and heavy usage. My last blender cracked at the plastic base where the jar used to attach to the motor base. I figured that was the last straw but I didn't want to go buy another run-of-the-mill blender from Target or Sears and thus run into the same problem year after year. So I investigated if there was a manufacturer that engineered the blade and jar mechanism differently such that it would be a more intelligent solution to the same problem I always had: the plastic setup normally found in ALL blender setups would always wear, crack and break over time.

Enter the Waring Professional blender. No gimmicks, no POINTLESS 200 blending speeds, and NO integrated PLASTIC jar-to-motorbase unit! Just a simple, elegant blender with two speeds. That's right, two speeds: high and low. But the biggest selling point was the built in blade which is fused and tightly engineered into the jar which is separate from the driving blades/motor unit. It just rests on top of the base which houses the commercial grade driving blades/motor which spins effortlessly. The black industrial strength plastic fins that rise up from the sides of the base provide stability for the glass container when in use or at rest. The other great part of this Waring Professional Blender: it chops ice and fruit with precision even in the low speed setting! I have read only one review elsewhere where the user had stated that the blade had broken after chopping ice for the first time. I have not had 1 problem in over 2 years of use!

A really fun feature of this engineering design is that you can be blending your favorite drink and can remove the glass jar within seconds by simply lifting the jar off the spinning fins while the motor is still running! Obviously this is the reason behind the "professional" grade designation in the name as it can clearly be used in a very busy bar!

Although I had originally balked at the nearly $250 price tag, it is a really attractive addition to the kitchen counter and I do not regret the purchase at all! Brushed, stainless steel base and a very heavy glass jar/canister with a removable and durable rubber top (with removable clear cup).

And remember to read the directions before first use as you will need to run the blender with soapy water before you use it for the first time. It also describes how to clean the unit after use. This is a simple task: Pour warm, soapy water into the glass jar and put it on the blender. Start up the motor (any speed) and spin the blades in the soapy water for easy cleanup!
