Author's Review
I am totally embarassed to say it. I have a subscription to the publication Star. Does it make it any better that I didn't pay a penny for it??!!?? I hope so. I will admit, this is one of my silly guilty pleasures that I turn through when it arrives, my hubby may read in the bathroom, and then sometimes gets trashed, or freecycled depending on the state of the magazine when we are done. I get a dose of the celeb-BRATY life style and then think to myself, thank God for the life I have.
Star Weekly
As I flip through the pages of this magazine, writing this review, there isn't a whole lot to tell. If you want to know who is pregnant, drunk, high or crazy, who hates who, who is wearing what in hollywood, this is your magazine. It is cheap entertainment. Its funny to see what each issue has to say about what is happening in tinseltown.
As far as regular features in the magazine, there are a few....
Tell Star:This is where readers write in and comment on past issues of the magazine
Normal/Not Normal: These pages feature candid pictures of celebrities doing random things in their lifes and "someone" judges if this is something that an average person does.
Hot Sheet: Is supposed to be the latest "have to have" items in Hollywood. Items on this page vary from foods to clothes, shoes and accesories. It even featured the hot hangouts.
Double Takes: This part features two stars wearing the same outfit(oh, the horror! how embarassing!) and the readers choose who looks better.
Worst of the Week: Pictures of the stars in strange or ugly embarassing outfits
StarScope: Your horoscope
Celeb Crossword: This crossword is actually pretty fun to complete if you know your stars, movies and music! I really do enjoy doing this crossword!
Star Crossword: This crossword is a little too much for me, the answers for this crossword are 10x harder than the Celeb one!
Sudoku: Fun when my brain still functions after a long day with the kids.
Overheard: Little quips from the celebs during interviews, or just random sayings by the famous overheard.
In the midst of all of these other things are all kinds of juicy stories about who is doing what, where with whoelse and so forth. Hey, it keeps me busy, for about 15 minutes and I feel like I am still hip ( ha ha ha) and have a conversation starter with some of my girlfriends.
The US coverprice for Star is $3.99, more than I would pay for it. For free??? I will read about anything, and this is the case here.
Star is published weekly by American Media Inc. They are located out of New York, New York. For more information about this magazine you can contact the magazine at
(866-624-7264) or email them at customerservice@amilink.com. They also have a website which I have not checked out, starmagazine.com.
If you have extra time and extra money, and want to know what the celebrity lifestyle is like, I recommend this magazine. As of late they have been following the life style choices of Jon Gosselin, it horrible. It is like watching a a train wreck, you don't want to see it but can't look away. Do not take ANYTHING printed in it as the truth, obviously, this magazine is for ENTERTAINMENT purposes. Check it out!
