West Bend 6 Quart Stir Crazy 82306
Date of Review: Sep 12, 2000
About three years ago after smelling my last bag of burnt microwave popcorn (turned out my microwave was going bad) I decided to find a popcorn popper, one that was easy to use, easy to clean up, and not to expensive. A friend who eats popcorn everyday for lunch told me about this popcorn she tried at a friend's house, she said it was made in a west bend stir crazy popcorn popper and it was the best popcorn she ever tasted. I figured that someone who ate popcorn everyday knew what she was talking about. So...
I first started going to stores but could not find these popcorn poppers and I kept getting the same thing-"we only sell that kind of stuff at Christmas". I eat popcorn all year round not just at Christmas, so I left my fingers do the walking and finally found a place that had two left from the holidays. I went to the store and bought it, came home and made my first batch of popcorn in it-I even put butter on the top where the holes are-it was by far the best batch of popcorn I had. Almost all the kernels popped, the butter melted down as it popped so the kernels ended up nice and fluffy rather then greasy (like they do when you put the butter on after it has been popped). Put the little brown cover over the holes after it is finished popping and you have a bowl.
Clean up is a breeze, soap water will clean the bowl and a wet cloth will clean the bottom. It is so easy to use and it really does make great popcorn. With almost all the kernels popping you get a bowlful. I hope mine is around for years to come, I will always have a stir crazy machine.
