Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III
Date of Review: Sep 9, 2002
The Bottom Line: Works well, versatile, cuts down on pre-rinse requirements.
After the former dishwasher died I spent several months seeking a replacement. Based on reviews by a popular consumer magazine I settled on the Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III. After a few months of trial and error I finally have it where I am reasonably satisfied with the performance - no thanks to Whirlpool's technical support.
The interior is exceptionally roomy and the various slots are easily configurable to accomodate most anything I can throw at it. The spray arm under the upper rack is a nice touch and does a reasonable job on any glasses that I throw up there.
The biggest hassle was a milky white film that covered all of the glassware from day one. I tried different rinse aids, different detergents - liquid and powder - but nothing helped. To the credit of Whirlpool they promptly dispatched a service tech - at no cost to me - who declared the device to be in perfect working order. The experience left me grouchy and sour on the device until I made my discovery. I have particularly hard water - the film was caused by mineral deposits left behind when the water dried too quickly with the heated dry option. When I attempted a cycle using the air dry option the water had time to sheet off of the glassware (with the help of the rinse aid) leaving them crystal clear. I only wish there had been some mention of this in the manual, by the telephone support rep or the on site tech.
