Zicam Cold Remedy Oral Mist... Blast That Cold Into OBLIVION!

When my husband came home from work one day last week, his first words were not, "Hi, Honey! I'm home!!" Instead, he walked in, slammed the door so that the windows shook, and exclaimed, "My office has the plague!" Packaging

Zicam Oral Mist is safety sealed, so before the product can be used you must remove the plastic seal that is around the entire bottle, which holds 1.0 fl. Oz. of remedy. Removing the seal is easy to do since there is a red, zip-style strip that you pull down to release the wrapping. There is a clear cap that covers the spray pump.


Directions for Use

At the first signs of a cold, use the oral mist from the first day of use to 48 hours after the cold symptoms have passed. Spray the mist four times into your mouth, making sure that you cover the entire mouth, including cheeks, roof of mouth, and gums. Do not swallow right away; hold the spray in your mouth for 15 seconds, and then swallow. Repeat this every three hours, until symptoms are gone. DO NOT take this product on an empty stomach, and do not eat or drink anything for 15 minutes after use. Don’t eat or drink citrus foods/drinks for 30 minutes before or after use. This product is for use with adults and children over the age of three years. Children under three years of age shouldn’t be given this product, so consult your doctor before using this product.

Our Experience

Once home, my husband tore open the package as I read the directions as quickly as possible. He sprayed the Zicam Oral Mist into his mouth four times, as directed, and repeated the process a couple of times in the next several hours, and over the course of a few days. He did complain just a little about a minty, chalky aftertaste, but it wasn’t enough to grumble about for too long. I have also used the product, and I agree that it does have a chalky aftertaste, but I’ve tasted things much worse than that, so I consider this to be a very minor objection.

Since my husband has been using the Zicam Oral Mist, he’s been very lucky that his tickly, scratchy throat has not worsened. This product isn’t a cure-all, but it’s something that works in a way to lessen the duration and severity of the worst part of a cold. His co-workers have taken his advice to buy some form of the Zicam product line, and he laughs when he sees someone break out the mist, or even the nasal swabs, to take a dose of the stuff that will hopefully help them through this terrible time of sickness in the office.
