Zicam Cold Remedy Oral Mist- This will wow you

I just started getting into more natural and or homeopathic remedies in the past couple of years. I'm tired of putting medicine into my body or my daughter's that we don't really need.

Zicam Cold Remedy comes in a white plastic bottle with some orange on it and is one fluid ounce.

I caught a horrible cold two years ago when I first started this job and couldn't afford to take time off and of course still didn't want to feel miserable. So on my lunch hour I ran to Walgreens and bought this.

The instructions are to spray it directly in your mouth on your gums, inside of cheeks, and roof of mouth. Then hold it in your mouth for 15 seconds, and then swallow it. Do not eat or drink anything for 15 minutes afterward, and do not eat or drink anything citrus for 30 minutes afterward. And it is not recommended to take on an empty stomach. Repeat this every three to four hours.

It is used to shorten the severity of cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, coughing, and sneezing. You must use it at the first sign of a cold or any cold symptoms and continue taking it for 48 hours after the first dose.

The taste is tolerable. I actually bought the mint flavored one. It’s not so bad where you almost have to spit it right back out. It is somewhat bitter, but not really an extremely strong flavor. It does leave a bit of an aftertaste, but it doesn’t last long at all.

I usually took it after a meal or a snack and had no stomach issues at all.

Now, here is what you will be surprised about. I’m sure you want to know if it works. My answer to you is no, not by itself. It is just made of zinc. It helps in combination with about 2000 mg of vitamin C or more if your stomach can handle it and Echinacea.

Each dose is only 266 mcgs per dose. The recommended zinc intake for a cold is 52 mg according to Nutrition Science News (http://www.newhope.com/nutritionsciencenews/nsn_backs/Nov_00/natnews5.cfm).

That is a huge difference. You can buy a bottle of zinc tablets that are 50 mg each for $9. Zicam Cold Remedy costs an estimated $10 and it won’t even touch on your smallest cold symptom.

My advice is to go to your local drugstore and purchase a bottle of zinc tablets that are about 50 mg each tablet, take one, and you’ll be good to go in four days or less.
