This is without a doubt, the best rice cooker I have ever owned.
We have owned numerous rice cookers over the years. The standard rice cooker makes decent rice, but will typically leave a brown bottom layer which tends to be mushy and unappealing. Furthermore, the rice typically does not have the same flavor as rice cooked in a pot, the stove top method being much better.
This Zojirushi makes rice so good, its actually better than the stove top method. Say goodbye to boil overs, or burnt bottoms.
When we make rice, we soak the rice overnight, which produces a superior cooked rice. This Zojirushi makes a better rice, without soaking...I am amazed.
The pot inside the cooker is a heavier gauge pot, similar in comparison to an All Clad versus an inexpensive nonstick. The unit is very easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and amazingly well built.
The unit is everything and more than I had expected, the only drawback being the price.
If you eat rice everyday, and care about quality, this is your machine...hands down. Although, the non stainless steel unit can be purchased at a significantly lower price, but with all the same benefits.
I expect to own this machine a long time. When the interior pot's nonstick surface gets marred from use, I will simply replace the inside pot, and away you go!!
