Stopped working just after the 1 year warranty period

Initially we were really please with this freezer. The size was convenient for us. I had been wanting a chest freezer for several years and finally convinced my hubby that we wouldn't forget about food in the bottom! It simplified my life, grocery shopping and meal preparation. About 12 month later we noticed frost building on the inside of the unit. Was it not sealing properly? A month later, we noticed that our bread was soft when we took it out of the freezer. We cranked it up to maximum but it made no difference. We called in a repair person ( $70 later) who told us that it was likely the compressor or the gas. When we move the freezer, we noticed a blue coloured stain on the basement floor. The repair person thought perhaps the gas was coloured blue (normally it is colourless and odourless) and this meant that there was a leak in the gas component of the unit. Repairing or investigating more would cost more than replacing the freezer. After a little persistence, Frigidaire agreed to replace the unit even though we were outside the year warranty. I wish they would have covered the service charge too. Oh well, at least we got another freezer!
