Author's Review
Ever since the Roomba was introduced I was intrigued. Anything that can help me around the house is worth any amount of money. My kids and job keep me so occupied that I never have time for anything, so this was really neat when I first heard about it.
I had heard bad things about Roomba not living up to their expectations, so I never bought one right away. About a year later, my husband bought me one for my birthday and I was so excited.
He bought the Roomba 535 on QVC because they were running great specials for the holiday season. The only difference between the 530 and the 535 is the 535 was only available on QVC. It came with the charging base and a light house.
I immediately unpackaged the Roomba, which was super easy, and put it to work. It had a little bit of a battery charge so I put it to the test. I plugged the charging base into the wall and put it under a high table. Then, I turned the Roomba on and put it to the test.
I was amazed at how quiet it actually was. Most vacuums are so loud, but I was able to watch television while it was vacuuming under my feet. How nice is that? Now, I must admit, the first couple of times that I used it I monitored it to make sure it didn't eat my rug or anything, but nothing ever happened.
The only thing that I did notice is that my couch and loveseat are a hair too short for Roomba to fit under. I have had a couple of times where it tried so hard to vacuum underneath them, but it got stuck and I had to pull it out.
I am impressed at the quality of job it does. I can use my traditional vacuum and then run the Roomba, and Roomba still finds more dirt. The Roomba has a cleaning pattern and will go over each area of the floor four times, and it is small enough that it can get into all the corners of my room.
The Roomba also works on all surfaces, so I am able to use it on my hard wood flooring and laminates. All I need to do is push a button and it goes! It also has a light house which I set on the floor and it will either keep Roomba in a certain area of the home, or leave it to finish one room before moving on to another.
When Roomba is done cleaning, or needs a battery charge, it will find it's way back to the dock and charge itself. Now I don't even have to worry about charging it. It cleans my laundry room, office, kitchen, dining, and living room all on one charge. It usually takes between one hour and one and a half hours.
I would recommend a Roomba for anyone who is looking for a great vacuum to do the work for you. It is well worth the money.
