Easy Set Up and Whisper-quiet Operation

Pros: Compact device; runs cool; set up was quick and easy
Cons: Expensive compared to external hard drive; "free" software is just a 30-day trial
The Bottom Line: This NAS seems to be an excellent combination of value and quality. Compact unit and quiet operation is a huge plus. Shop around for the best deal; price varies widely.

Buffalo NAS LS-WTGL Reviewed as Geeks-only

Pros: Most cost-effective NAS solution, and can access from all machines where I've installed the software.
Cons: Learning curve is steep, initial setup is not easy, documentation doesn't cover basic operation.
The Bottom Line: Be sure that you are technical enough to figure this out from the scant install documentation
